Prayer – The Key To Power And Favor With God

Prayer – The Key To Power And Favor With God

Fasting is an appropriate means of strengthening our prayer. Fasting without praying is merely going on a hunger strike. We will examine the subject of prayer using scriptures under three headings;  In The Old testament, In the Gospels and In the New Testament Church.

Prayer is the link between heaven and earth. If you are praying you are connected to heaven. If you are not praying, you are not connected to heaven.

In The Old Testament

Ge 20:17 So Abraham prayed to God; and God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female servants. Then they bore children.

1Sa 1:27 For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition which I asked of Him.

Isa 40:31 But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

Da 11:32 But the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.

In The Gospel Teaching Of Jesus

Mt 6:6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

Mt 7:7 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Mt 21:22 And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.

Mt 26:41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Lu 18:1 Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.

Example Of Jesus

Mr 1:35 Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.

Lu 5:16 So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.

Lu 6:12 Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

Example Of The New Testament Church

Ac 1:14 These all continued with one ]accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

Ac 2:42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Ac 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
