Be A Star
Da 12:3 Those who are wise shall shine
Like the brightness of the firmament,
And those who turn many to righteousness
Like the stars forever and ever.”
In these last days, as the world grows darker and darker, we believers in Jesus Christ ought to live with eternity in view. We should seek to excel in our faith and practice in order to please our master Jesus, as we serve in His end-time program. Each of us should seek to shine as a star for Jesus. Be a star.
A star is a servant-hearted, teachable, accountable, and responsible believer. To be a star you will therefore need to be :-
- Servant hearted- just like our Lord Jesus , “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Mr 10:45).
- Teachable. This calls for humility and availability to receive training counsel and correction from other believers and leaders God has set over you in the spiritual realm. It means also that you will have a heart for the word of God. “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” (2Ti 3:15.) and you will “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2Ti 2:15)
- Accountable to the Lord and to other believers. Do not be the kind that says I don’t care what others think. Be careful. What your fellow believes binds on earth is bound in heaven. Be like Paul “For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men.” (2 Cor.8:21)
- Responsible, so that the Lord and the church can count on you. Be like Barnabas, who the scripture says “was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people were added unto the Lord.” Ac 11:24. Endeavour to be a hard-working and fruitful Christian.
Jesus said that “Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father.” (Mt 13:43) Be sure you are one of them. As spurgeon said “May every one of us labor to be of that brilliant company.”
FOUR ESSENTIALS OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH
“For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (2Pe 1:8) There are four essential elements of the Christian life. Each of us should seek to excel in these four areas for a healthy balanced Christian life. They are:
- Fellowship with God.
- Divine encounter with in the miracle of salvation, and the subsequent baptism in the Holy Spirit.
- Daily encounters with God in a daily devotional life, that involves, meditation, prayer and systematic bible study.
- Fellowship with other believers.
- In worship
- In prayer
- In ministry
- In missions.
- Witness to the world.
- By your conduct.
- By your testimony
- Zeal to get others saved.
- Responsible stewardship of the resources God has placed under our care.
- Time.
- Talents
- Material resources.
